Spike Ocotillo CompletedRailroad Spike Ocotillo

$3500

This project took me over a year to complete from planning to final
product. It combines my heritage of working on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, both as a switchman and "Gandy Dancer" (track maintenance & construction) during the 60's while attending college back in Wisconsin and my desire to weld things together like desert plants.

cactus trio 01The Cactus Trio

$195 for the 3 piece set

The Cactus Trio does not need to be watered, and they never get messy fruit so common to their botanical counter parts. One is a series of small horse shoes welded together to look like a 3’ tall Saguaro Cactus. Horse shoes still have some of the nails from prior usage on horses and mules. The other two are flat steel cut out with a cutting torch, to look like Prickly Pear Cactus with three red fruit carved of wood. Coloring on these two pieces can be either 100% natural, which changes as the pieces age; or a light green patina sealed for color stablization.  The threesome comes with each piece mounted in a small concrete base for easy arranging and planting. Should you wish additional single piecies they are $65.00 each.
